Adnan Hassan brought his dream to succeed from a tranquil town of Kluang Johor to the modern Klang Valley in order pursue his dream to succeed in the fashion industry. In the year 1999, Adnan enrolled in Universiti Teknologi MARA’s (UiTM) Faculty of Arts and Design to keep his passion alive. He was delighted when he was accepted to further his studies in fashion design.

With two fashion awards in his bag (namely The sixth Brother Cup China Young Fashion Designer Contest which he won in Beijing, China in 1998 and The Winner of Anugerah Benang Emas in 2002—from a noted local magazine Jelita) Adnan looks forward to creating headlines in the local fashion scene.

The people in Malaysia’s fashion industry finally become aware of Adnan’s presence for his unique collection of what he terms “unfinished denim” which he innovatively translates into his designs for evening wear, office wear and casual wear. His fresh idea managed to capture the hearts of the local fashion critics. From there, Adnan has received many invitations to showcase his denim-inspired collection.

His designs have also made it to the covers of local entertainment magazines and also in local newspapers. Malaysian celebrities help to promote Adnan Hassan’s design by wearing the denim-inspired collection to the hip and happening events throughout the country. Since then, Adnan Hassan’s career took flight. Adnan has also been dubbed as the Malaysian King of Denim in a review in the local newspaper.

Nasha Aziz is an international model who had worn one of Adnan Hassan’s masterpieces at the 2002 Anugerah Era. The ensemble worn by Nasha Aziz had obtained a lot of media coverage, received numerous comments from Malaysian fashion critics and also a lot positive reviews. Consequently, the label of Adnan Hassan made its debut in the local fashion arena.

Adnan Hassan is continuously passionate in creating his fashion design especially when it comes to “play dress up” with local celebrities as his main participants. He is determined to establish his “unfinished denim” trademark to the masses.

A well-liked male artiste, Mawi is a part of Adnan Hassan’s success when Mawi was seen in an ensemble of a long jacket a la Neo in Matrix with a tint of nusantara for Akademi Fantasia’s final concert and later, Mawi is seen in an olive corduroy jacket.

Recently, Farawahida, a new singer with promising talents was seen in Adnan Hassan’s funky number in her album “Tanpamu” cover. This trend was followed by other artistes namely Adam AF2, Nurul, Ajai, Anita Sarawak, Erra Fazira, and KRU. The support he received from these local celebrities motivates Adnan in improving his experimental yet versatile fashion designs.
